Introducing our 2026 D.C. Legal Interns

We are delighted to introduce our 2026 cohort of D.C. Legal Summer Interns. The Levin Center’s congressional summer internship program is running since the founding of the Center and has now enabled 38 Wayne Law students to work and live in Washington, D.C., for the summer months joining a congressional oversight (sub-)committee as legal clerks. Please meet this year’s cohort of interns!

Shannon Higgins, a 1L, graduated from the University of Michigan
with a major in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience, along
with minors in History of Medicine and Health and in Crime and
Justice. Prior to starting law school, she worked as a volunteer intern
at the Chicago Appleseed Center for Fair Courts, a nonprofit
advocacy organization focused on interrupting systemic injustices
within the legal system. She also worked as a legal assistant at a
boutique personal injury firm. Shannon will serve her internship with the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

Jeremiah Arnold, a 1L, graduated from Saginaw Valley State
University with a double major in Criminal Justice and Sociology.
During his time there, he worked as a development assistant intern
for the SVSU Foundation, a nonprofit focused on supporting the
university and its students through the cultivation of a strong donor
community. Jeremiah will serve his internship on the Senate
Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and is
this year’s Pauline Cohen Endowed Intern.

Kendall Yancey, a 1L, graduated from Hampton University. He
has a strong interest in foreign policy, national security, and
legislative oversight. His academic and professional experience
includes international security studies, legislative work in a state
senate office, and policy and risk analysis at an international
advisory firm, as well as community‑focused public service in
municipal government. Kendall will serve his internship on the
House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.

We look forward to supporting our 2026 interns this summer as they start their work in Congress!
